Dave Chisnall seals place at UK Open after Wigan qualifiers

Dave Chisnall confirmed his place at the Coral UK Open as the six qualifiers concluded in Wigan at the weekend.

The Morecambe ace finished 18th in the order of merit meaning the Premier League star will take his place at the televised finals from March 4-6 at the Butlins Minehead Resort, with coverage live on ITV4 as 128 players do battle for the title.

In Friday’s fourth qualifier at the Robin Park Tennis Centre, Chizzy reached the last 32, losing 6-0 to Justin Pipe after wins over James Wilson and Jack Todd.

Saturday saw the same result with Mensur Suljovic inflicting a 6-3 defeat on the Morecambe man after earlier victories over Stephen Gallimore and Ricky Sudale.

On Sunday Chisnall reached the last 64, going out 6-3 to Kyle Anderson having previously defeated Ron Meulenkamp.
