Dave Chisnall seals place at UK Open after Wigan qualifiers

Dave Chisnall is through to the Coral UK Open after coming through the final round of qualifiers in Wigan.

The Morecambe ace came 13th in the order of merit after six events over two weekends at the Robin Park Tennis Centre, winning £4,750 in prize money.

In the latest triple header Chisnall reached the last 32 of Friday’s event won by Michael van Gerwen, losing to Robert Thornton 6-3.

Chisnall improved the following day as he reached the quarter-finals before a 6-1 defeat to Daryl Gurney.

Michael Smith beat Adrian Lewis in the final.

In Sunday’s final event, the Morecambe ace reached the last 16 where he lost to eventual winner Phil Taylor 6-2.

Taylor went on to defeat Ian White in the final.

Chisnall now moves on to the televised finals next month at the Butlins Resort in Minehead.
The three days of action from Friday, March 6, will be broadcast live on ITV Sport.
