Morecambe darts ace Dave Chisnall is first on stage in tonight’s last 16 of the PDC World Matchplay Darts championship.

Chisnall faces Stoke thrower Andy ‘The Hammer’ Hamilton for a place in the quarter-finals at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool.

‘Chizzy’ was in sizzling form in winning his first round match 10-4 against Dean Winstanley and will be keen to maintain the form he showed at the weekend.

“It was a good win,” said Dave after his victory over Winstanley.

“I’ve practiced all week on my doubles and it’s paid off.

“I was so focussed. When I hit 131 in the first leg I knew I was going to play well. I’m getting fed up of losing games I should be winning and it’s getting me down a bit.”

Tonight’s match will be screened live on Sky Sports.

James Wade v Richie Burnett, Michael van Gerwen v Ian White and Simon Whitlock v Raymond van Barneveld complete the evening’s line-up.

If ‘Chizzy’ wins – and he holds a 4-3 winning record against Hamilton – he could meet reigning world champion van Gerwen in the last eight.
