DAVE Chisnall won the Best Newcomer Award at the Professional Darts Corporation Annual Awards Dinner at the Dorchester in London.

The Morecambe-based darter capped an outstanding debut season with the PDC where he rose to 32 in the world rankings, won a Players Championship, reached two major quarter-finals and knocked the legendary Phil “The Power” Taylor out of the World Championship.

Chisnall, who lives in the resort, also received a Silver Pin Badge to reward his achievements in non-televised events.

The 31-year-old jumped ship from the PDC’s rival the British Darts Organisation (BDO) in 2011 after reaching its World Final in 2010.

Taylor won the PDC Player of the Year award.
