Morecambe darts ace Dave Chisnall will once again play in the Betway Premier League in 2016.
A semi-finalist last year, Chisnall’s place as a Sky Sports Wildcard selection in the £700,000 arena tournament was confirmed on Sunday night when the 10-man field was announced.
The resort thrower, who reached the third round of this year’s World Championships before losing a classic to Peter Wright, agonisingly lost 10-9 to eventual winner Gary Anderson in 2015’s last four.
Elsewhere, Michael Smith will make his debut in the event, the former World Youth Champion having risen to eighth in the world rankings while Scot Robert Thornton also makes his return.
Reigning champion Gary Anderson, who defeated Michael van Gerwen in the 2015 final at The O2 in London, will join his Dutch rival, Adrian Lewis and six-time Premier League champion Phil Taylor as the four automatic selections.
2014 winner Raymond van Barneveld is joined by Chisnall, Smith, Thornton, James Wade and Peter Wright as Wildcard selections.
The season set to begin on Thursday, February 4, at the First Direct Arena in Leeds with a nationwide arena tour ending at The O2 in London on Thursday, May 19.
