Dave Chisnall reached the last eight of the European Darts Trophy in Muelheim, Germany.
The Morecambe ace showed good form on route to the quarter-finals at the RWE Sporthalle before a 6-0 defeat to Michael van Gerwen on Sunday.
Chisnall set up the clash with the Dutchman after he recovered from 2-0 down to defeat Justin Pipe 6-2 earlier in the day.
On Saturday, the resort’s Premier League star had celebrated his 35th birthday by starting his campaign with another 6-2 win, this time over Jan Dekker.
Michael Smith retain his title with a 6-2 victory over Van Gerwen in Sunday’s final.
