Chisnall falls to Lewis in last eight in Crawley

Dave Chisnall reached the last eight of the 14th Players Championship event in Crawley on Sunday.

The Morecambe ace lost 6-5 to Adrian Lewis in the quarter-finals at the K2 Centre having earlier picked up wins over Conan Whitehead, Gerwyn Price, Stephen Bunting and Jamie Lewis.

World champion Michael van Gerwen sealed his eighth PDC title of 2014 with a 6-4 victory over Michael Smith in the final.
The performance on Sunday was a marked improvement from 24 hours earlier when Chisnall, the sixth seed, lost 6-4 to Josh Payne in the opening round of the 13th Players Championship tournament.

Gary Anderson was in imperious form, winning the first of the Crawley double header with a 6-5 triumph over Richie Burnett in the final.
