Dave Chisnall completed the group stages of the SINGHA Beer Grand Slam of Darts with a 5-1 defeat to Scott Mitchell at the Wolves Civic on Tuesday night.

The Morecambe ace was already safely through to round two with Mitchell eliminated but the reigning Lakeside Champion produced a fine display to earn a consolation win.

Mitchell kicked off with a 180 in the opening leg before Chisnall also landed a maximum but the BDO man took out tops to go 1-0 in front.

Chisnall then landed another 180 but missed double 16 to allow Mitchell in to finish 60 on double 10 for a break of throw to double his advantage.

Three more missed doubles from the Morecambe man saw Mitchell make it 3-0 before Chisnall got on the board with a double 10 making it 3-1.

Two maximums from Mitchell helped him to within one leg of victory with Chisnall’s third 180 of the match then unable to prevent a 5-1 defeat.

Peter Wright’s 5-3 win over Mervyn King saw him top Group D at the expense of Chisnall.

The Morecambe man next plays Michael Smith in round two after the former World Youth Champion beat crowd favourite Andy Fordham 5-2.
