A rising table tennis star from Morecambe will represent England next month after a strong showing at the national championships.
Bethany Ellis took silver in the Under 11 category in Wolverhampton at the weekend meaning she will play for her country at the Euro-Mini Table Tennis Championships in Strasbourg at the end of August.
The PG Mutual National Championships for players from Under 10 to 13 were held over two days in the Aldersley Leisure Village.
Qualification to attend is based on a player’s ranking with Table Tennis England meaning the best young players from across the country took part.
Bethany is no stranger to success having won the Under 10 title last year with the runner-up spot this time around meaning she is one of just two girls in her age group representing England in Eastern France from August 24 to 26.
Earlier this year she also came second at the prestigious Table Tennis England’s 2018 Under-12s National Cup, despite being the youngest competitor. Both Bethany and her brother Toby have also represented Lancashire with them both getting their county badges.
Toby’s Cadet and Junior teams also won their respective divisions.
The Lancaster Royal Grammar School youngster, an England international himself, picked up the Junior Male Achievement/ Performance of the Year at the Preston Sports Awards back in March as his rise in the sport continues.
