Athletes run in red hot sun

ON April 10 seven members of Lancaster and Morecambe Athletic Club travelled to Fort William, in the shadow of Ben Nevis, to take part in the 28th Lochaber Marathon.

This is a race that is run on an out-and-back course along the shores of Loch Eil.

Under normal weather conditions this enables runners to perform well.

As it turned out this was the hottest day of the year so far and the mountain was not quite big enough to cast its shadow over the course.

All local runners made great efforts to overcome the conditions.
