Mixed weekend for Torrisholme
It was a mixed weekend for Torrisholme '“ on Saturday they claimed an excellent four wicket win over Great Eccleston at Boundary Meadow, but on Sunday they lost by six wickets to South Shore.
Against Great Eccleston, captain Daniel Woods won the toss and elected to field first, as Torrisholme bowled out the visitors for 105.
James Cookson(3-21), Rhaul Gupta (2-28), Woods (1-40), Aaron Tinker (1-9) and Jack Heap (1-1) took the wickets.
In response, Torrisholme reached their target in 35.4 overs, with captain Woods the stand out batsman with an unbeaten knock of 44 as the hosts finished on 107-6.
However, on Sunday Torrisholme took on South Shore in Division Two West, and after winning the toss captain Joseph Wills decided to bat first as his side were bowled out for 179.
Two of their order managed half centuries - opener James Cookson (52) eventually fell LBW to Dildar Khan (3-18) while Wayne Troughton suffered the same fate at the hands of Arshad Mahmood (2-29).
Wills was the only other man to reach double figures for Torrisholme, he managed 18 before falling to Khan, Hamed Ali taking the catch.
South Shore responded well with the bat, and opener Amjad Mehmood impressively led the way with an unbeaten knock of 112, while Masuad Ahmed was also not out on 44.
Joshua Wills (1-9), Joseph Wills (1-26) and Liam Pemberton (1-29) did their best to halt the South Shore charge, but the visitors reached 180 in 36.3 overs to win by six wickets.
*Lancaster suffered their first loss in the Palace Shield Premier Division on Saturday, losing by 24 runs to Longridge at Lune Road.
Home captain Luke Phillips won the toss and elected to field first, but despite some good bowling performances from Liam Moffat (3-22) and Charlie Swarbrick (3-46), Longridge finished on 138-8 from their 45 overs.
In reply, Lancaster were dismissed for just 114 with only Iain Perrieman (22), Luke Phillips (21), Lee Sparks (12) and James Davies (17) reaching double figures as the Lune Road club fell short of their target.
