September 24 is set to be the biggest night in Lancaster and Morecambe boxing history.
Rising stars Isaac Lowe and Tomi Tatham will both be on the undercard of Anthony Crolla’s world lightweight unification title fight with Jorge Linares at the Manchester Arena.
Morecambe’s Lowe makes the first defence of his Commonwealth featherweight strap against South African former world title challenger Tshifhiwa Munyai while Bentham light-heavyweight Tatham faces Barrow’s Liam Conroy in a fight that could be sanctioned as a British title eliminator.
The 22-year-old Westgate Warrior is unequivocal about what a big night it is for the district.
Unbeaten Lowe said: “1,000 per cent it’s the biggest night for Lancaster and Morecambe boxing.
“There’s never been two lads on a show like this.
“I’m fighting a big name and Tomi’s in a British title eliminator. They are two massive fights.
“It’s a night where we can put Lancaster, Morecambe and Bentham on the map.”
Tatham knows both sets of fans can come together to make it special night at the iconic arena that has seen so many great fight nights down the years.
He said: “It’s massive for our area.
“It’s nice to have Isaac there. He’s been on these shows before and is a little bit ahead of me in his career.
“It’ll be good to start catching him up a little bit.
“My fans will be cheering for him and his fans will be cheering for me.
“When it gets tough both sets of fans can help us through the trenches.”
The pair both spent time together at Skerton ABC and last shared a professional bill at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool back in November 2013 when both were taking part in their sixth professional fights.
This is on another level however with their fights set to be broadcast live on Sky Sports.
Lowe said: “Three years ago we were on together at the Winter Gardens which is a very nice venue.
“But now we’re talking about 20,000 people at the Manchester Arena for Anthony Crolla.
“I’m really looking forward to it. We can push each other on.
“We were good mates way back and have gone our separate ways with him training in Preston and me in Doncaster.
“It’ll be great to be in the hotel with him and at the weigh in and reunite a bit.
“I hope the people come out of Lancaster and Morecambe and support two lads who are doing something that’s never been done before.”
