Leaders Fulwood and Broughton edge out Torrisholme

Top of the Palace Shield Premier Division Fulwood and Broughton took the spoils with victory over Torrisholme at Boundary Meadow on Saturday.

Matt Jackson’s hosts were restricted to 135-8 batting first with the visitors edging home by three wickets in the 42nd over.

Chris Parry top scored for Torrisholme after they won the toss and elected to bat, the wicket-keeper batsman making 28.

James Ferguson also finished unbeaten on 25 but telling contributions were few and far between, Adam Bee making 19, James Cookson 18 and Daniel Woods 17.

Dominic Jackson did the damage with the ball for the league leaders, taking 4-24 from his four overs.

In reply Fulwood’s top four all got starts without going on, but it proved enough for victory.

Amin Patel made 28, Charlie Rossiter 26 and captain Mark Smith 23 with Ben Parkinson’s unbeaten 26 ultimately helping his side over the line as they finished on 136-7.

Jackson took 2-34, Woods 2-46 and Joseph Wills 2-17.

The result means Torrisholme continue to sit one place above the relegation zone on their return to the Premier Division.

Jackson’s men next travel to Penwortham on Saturday, who sit one place above them in the table.
