Lancaster duo reach last 32 of English Amateur Championships

Two Lancaster golfers were knocked out in the last 32 of the English Amateur Championships.

Top prospects Adam Stone and Jack Clarkson enjoyed good runs at the prestigious tournament before losing out to Farrington Park’s Josh Hilleard and Walsall’s Daniel Sutton respectively.

Stone lost 3&2 and Clarkson 5&4 as Yorkshire’s Dan Brown took the coveted title at Ganton Golf Club.

Jack Senior finished tied for 52nd at his latest Challenge Tour event - the Tayto Northern Ireland Open in partnership with Ulster Bank.

Four rounds of 69, 69, 70 and 74 gave Heysham’s former amateur star a final total of two under par at Galgorm Castle Golf Club.

Olympics-bound New Zealander Ryan Fox equalled the course record as he stormed to victory, his nine under par 62 helping him to final total of 19 under par and a four-shot triumph.

Heysham golfer Terry Keenan has moved one step closer to the World Long Drive Championship after winning through to the final of the American Golf Long Drive Championship - the UK qualifier for the event.

Having won through to the regional final, Terry produced a fantastic display of power hitting that was enough to secure the title in the open category, now moving onto the blue riband final at High Legh Park Cheshire on August 19.

The winner of each category – Open, Senior and Ladies – wins exemption for the 2017 World Long Drive Championship in Oklahoma.
