Lancaster and Morecambe runners take on Pendle Hill races

Six athletes from Lancaster and Morecambe Athletics Club were in action at the Pendle Hill fell races on Saturday.

The race also acted as the English Junior Fell Running Championship, the Lancashire County Championships and the selection race for the Inter Counties Fell Race to be held at Betwys-y-Coed, North Wales for the under 16 and under 18 athletes.

Cumbrian runner Scarlett Dale had an excellent run in the under 16 girls’ race and finished as first female.

In the under 12 boys race Will Pyle came ninth overall and second in the Lancashire championships.

Next in the under 14 race Thomas Pyle came fifth in the Lancashire championships. Jonathan Pyle was 41st in the under 10 boys’ race.

Experienced international fell runner Hannah Bateson came eighth in the senior ladies race and Chris Pyle was the 53rd male.

On Easter Monday two Lancaster and Morecambe athletes were in action at the Trafford AC Medal meet.

Under 13 girl Temi Mustapha set new personal best in the 75m with a time of 10.8 and in the shot with a throw of 6.80m, which earned her the silver medal.

Sam Mercer put early season markers down in the 100m and long jump.
