The official Isle of Man TT website described John’s triumph on Friday afternoon as “his most sensational win”.

McGuinness won by a whopping 14.2 second margin from second placed James Hillier.

Ian Hutchinson, who has won three races this week, finished third.

Immediately after the race, McGuinness said: “The real John McGuinness turned up today.

“I wish I could wave but I can’t take my hand off the bar.

“I so, so appreciate all my fans around the course.”

It was John’s second win of the week at the iconic Isle of Man road race meeting.

McGuinness, 43, has now narrowed the gap to just three behind Joey Dunlop on the all-time TT race wins list.

The race was earlier restarted following an incident where rider Jamie Hamilton was injured.

He was airlifted to hospital after the ‘red flag incident’ at the 11th Milestone on the route.

His injuries were described as serious but not life-threatening.

It was then confirmed the race would restart over four laps. McGuinness had been in second place behind Hutchinson when the original race was stopped.
