Hockey: Lancaster Nomads 2nds 3-1 Southport Ladies 3rds

Nomads began the game strongly with player of the match Rosie Eve Graham scoring in the first 10 minutes with a powerful sweep past the Southport ‘keeper.

Despite Nomads’ continual pressure and numerous penalty corners, they couldn’t increase their lead.

Southport created a few chances on the counter attack but Nomads ‘keeper Karen Saunders was equal to everything until, against the run of play, Southport equalised.

Some fluid attacking play then set up Sarah Hampson to put Nomads ahead going into half-time.

Nomads continued their pressure on the Southport goal and increased their lead when Alice Phipps’ drive down the wing led Chloe Fisher to take advantage of a Southport foot in the ‘D’ to calmly slot the ball to Hampson at the far post for her second of the afternoon.
