The away team started brightly and got in behind Lancaster’s defence but goal keeper Leighan Bleasdale kept Lancaster in the game.

Lancaster surged forward on the counter attack on a number of occasions but couldn’t find the decisive finish they were looking for.

Lancaster were guilty of squandering possession in the first half and allowing Newcastle through and after a good save from Bleasdale the ball fell kindly to a Newcastle forward who slotted the ball home for the only goal of the game.

Lancaster 2s dominated against Springfield Ladies 3s and were rewarded with a 2-0 away win, although the score did not reflect the amount of chances Lancaster had.

The goalscorers were Eve Dodd and Elle Dorrington.

Despite a run of defeats since the Christmas break Lancaster 3s turned out on yet another cold and rainy Saturday with confidence for the local derby against the Nomads 1s, but were ultimately beaten 4-0.

Lancaster 3s switched off for a 10 minute period, allowing the Nomads 1s to score a quick three goals which killed the game for them.

Lancaster Nomads 2s also recorded a 4-0 win as they beat Lancaster 4s. Despite passion and persistence Lancaster 4s could not break down a very well-oiled Nomads team.

Player of the match was rightly awarded to Ella Bookless who did not stop running.

Elsewhere, the Lancaster Development Team were victorious, winning 5-0 against Kirkby Lonsdale Development Team.
