The Lancaster-based Pedal Heaven man was at the sharp end of the field throughout, winning stage three after attacking in the final two kilometres to triumph in Dingle.

Gullen even made a break on the eighth and final stage, jumping clear only to be caught by stage winner Nicolai Brochner with just 400 metres to go.

Clemens Fankhauser topped the general classification to take the title and become a two-time winner with Gullen 64 seconds back as he made the top 10 and continued his fine form.

His Pedal Heaven team mate Jack Pullar, from Bolton-le-Sands, has also been making waves on the Tour Series.

The Commonwealth Games rider first came a career-best second in Redditch before setting the fastest lap and taking 11th in Durham.
