Other Red Rose players to look out for include Ian Kenwright from Haydock Park, the reigning Lancashire Amateur champion, and John Carroll, from Huyton & Prescott, a two-time winner of the same title.

The fixture starts at 9.30am with six foursomes encounters before 12 singles matches which get underway from 1pm.

Lancaster Golf Club captain Chris Foster said: “I am proud that this prestigious fixture is being held at Lancaster and look forward to watching top class golfers competing on our championship course.”

Staging the fixture is a coup for Lancaster who hosted the Lancaster Amateur Championship in 2007 and will do so again in 2017.
