Charlotte Carnell from the Galloways Society is pictured with the cheque alongside Jacqui Dixon and Jim Heap.

They chose Galloway’s as their charity of the year and during the past 12 months a number of fund raisers have helped boost the total.

One effort by vice captain elect, John McGinley, brought in more than £700 in sponsorship after he shaved his head for the charitable cause.

Jim Heap said: “As ever the good members of Morecambe have risen to the occasion and helped us raise a fabulous amount.

And Jacqui Dixon added: “Before we took on our roles, Jim and I agreed that Galloway’s would be our charity for the year we were in office. It was a good choice and everybody at the club have shown their support and their generosity”.

Galloway’s has a long and proud history of serving blind and partially sighted people and has newly established centre in Victory Street, Morecambe.
