Laurence Wilson is Morecambe’s main injury doubt ahead of Stevenage visiting the Globe Arena on Saturday.
The left back went off in the win over Hartlepool on Sunday with a hamstring problem and is touch and go for the weekend.
Having made six changes for the trip to Pools boss Jim Bentley admitted Wilson was one he would have liked to have rested as well.
He said: “The only downside in the Hartlepool win was the little niggle for Laurence Wilson.
“It’s probably down to playing two games in two days.
“He’s missed a large chunk of the season and thankfully it’s not a long-term, he could be right for the weekend and if not he’ll certainly be ready for the Tranmere game.
“If we had another left back at the club he might have been one that we’d have given a rest to.
“In that formation, 3-5-2, the two players who probably get through the most running are probably the two wing backs.
“We were fortunate that we could rest Shaun Beeley but unfortunate we didn’t have anyone to go in for Laurence Wilson’s position.
“We thought it might have been a longer term one but it’s more fatigue so he should be back sooner rather than later.”
The performances of those who came in against Hartlepool has given Bentley something of a selection headache with Aaron McGowan, Tom McCready, Alan Goodall, Ryan Williams, Jack Redshaw and Paul Mullin all impressing.
The Shrimps boss said: “It’s given me a headache because everyone did well and staked a claim for a starting place.
“It worked well and on the day the lads who came in gave a really good account of themselves.
“To get the win and a clean sheet was great. I’m made up, it was important we got back to winning ways and it’s a big three points for us to set us up going into the new year.”
Elsewhere on the injury front the Shrimps are looking pretty healthy heading into the New Year.
Andy Fleming is back running after a knee problem with Jack Sampson having returning to training after an ankle injury. Bentley hopes both will feature for the reserves against Shrewsbury next Tuesday.
Andy Wright is also in light training as he continues his recovery from a groin problem, as is Declan Watson who has been struggling with a hamstring injury.
