Rochdale are the visitors to the Globe Arena on Saturday.
Former Shrimp is a manager who knows how to get Rochdale out of League 2. In his second spell at Spotland having left to take over at Barnsley, Hill guided his side to four wins in the final six games of last season after taking over from another man with Morecambe connections, John Coleman, in January. The Greater Manchester side have taken that form into the new season with Hill looking to guide them out of the Football League’s bottom tier for a second time.
The 21-year-old, who can operate as a forward or a winger, returned to Spotland in the summer having spent time with the club’s youth team. Had spells with Halifax Town, Stocksbridge, Ashton United and most recently Hyde and has returned in style with six goals to his name already so far this season.
Hill’s side have made a fine start to the season and currently sit fourth in the table despite losing in their last two League 2 outings. Won 2-0 at Torquay in the FA Cup first round on Saturday thanks to goals from Hogan and Peter Vincenti but lost 3-0 at Chesterfield in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy on Tuesday night.
The sides are fairly evenly matched in 10 league and cup meetings. The Shrimps have won on three occasions, drawn five and lost twice. Last season Morecambe did the double over the Dale and knocked them out of the first round of the FA Cup, needing a replay to progress 1-0 at Spotland.
