In the Baines Bagguley Penhale North Lancashire Football League Premier Division Bowerham were beaten by Marsh United 3-1 in a must-win game for both teams as they try to avoid relegation.
Bowerham started brightly but couldn’t keep it up and allowed Marsh to dominate large parts of the game and in Thomas Geary they had the man of the match with his two brilliant strikes.
Anthony Cooper scored his first of the season while the consolation for Bowerham was scored by Tim Leon with his first of the season.
This win leaves Marsh United five points above a relegation place and leaves Bowerham just one point above the drop zone.
Carnforth Rangers moved up to third place after managing to overcome a battling
Galgate side, winning 2-0 with Cameron Holmes and veteran Mark Plevey scoring the goals.
Cartmel and District had to fight for 90 minutes to stop Highgrove from getting anything from their encounter.
The game went from end-to-end with a lot of classy football being played by both sides.
It was always tight and it looked as though one goal would be enough to take all three points and the only goal was scored by Matthew Burrows to send Cartmel back to the top as joint leaders with Caton United.
Mayfield United turned the tables on Lancaster Rovers after suffering a 3-0 defeat earlier in the season.
The more workmanlike Mayfield side thoroughly deserved to win after Daniel Martin, Anthony McCluskey and Scott Moore had scored, Simon Gillespie scored the goal he deserved for a well beaten Rovers side.
Trimpell and Bare Rangers showed no mercy on lowly Arnside who are slowly getting sucked into a relegation battle after losing 5-0.
Trimpell dominated most of the game and deserved to win with Curtis Graham, Andrew Forbes and a great Aiden Dunphy hat-trick.
This win keeps Trimpell up with the leading group.
