Morecambe host a Northampton side they have a poor League 2 record against on Saturday.
Having avoided relegation in 2014 the former Oxford boss made further progress last season as The Cobblers finished 12th. Now eyes will be on the play-offs despite problems off the field with the club in the process of being sold to an unknown consortium.
Scored 18 goals in 36 games last season despite battling injury to be named the club’s Player of the Year on his return to Sixfields. The 33-year-old has picked up from where he left off this time around and already has four goals to his name. A former Chesterfield, Port Vale and Barnsley front man.
Wilder’s side are currently 11th in League 2 with 10 points from their seven games. Won 1-0 at home to their manager’s former side Oxford on Saturday despite playing the second half with 10 men after Jason Taylor’s red card. Form has been patchy though with the win last time out their first in five League 2 games. Still only sit three points behind The Shrimps at this early stage however.
Northampton have had by far the better of the 12 meetings between the sides with seven wins, four draws and just the solitary Shrimps triumph. Last season The Cobblers did the double, winning 1-0 at the Globe Arena pretty much 12 months ago before a 2-1 victory at Sixfields in February.
