Slyne went down 1-0 at Southport Hesketh on Saturday.

Ian Roe’s Slyne went down 1-0 at Southport Hesketh with Simon Hill scoring the only goal of the game on 39 minutes.

The hosts went down to 10 men after just 20 minutes when Brad Shearwood saw red after being adjudged to have kicked out at a Slyne player.

The winner came shortly before half-time, Hill scoring from close range after Ste Hoy’s initial free-kick had been saved.

Slyne will look to bounce back at Longridge Town on Wednesday before hosting Charnock Richard on Saturday.

Garstang took a point at Euxton Villa in a goalless draw where both sides missed chances. There was plenty of endeavour though and neither side really deserved to lose.

Lee Baker’s side next host Blackpool Wren Rovers in the first round of the Richardson Cup on Monday night.

They then return to league action at Burnley United on Saturday.
