Having made it two wins out of two by coming from 2-0 to win 3-2 at Burscough last Tuesday night Darren Peacock’s side went on to lose at Radcliffe and at home to Clitheroe in the space of three days.

The 3-2 defeat at Radcliffe on Saturday was a tough one to take for the Blues.
Danny White gave the hosts an early lead before City skipper Neil Marshall equalised, converting from close range after Aaron Taylor had headed against the post.

Borough took the lead for a second time before the break from the penalty spot with Chris Mason converting after Gavin Clark was harshly penalised for handball.

Things didn’t get any better in the second half for the Blues with White missing a chance for his second before Bevan Burey headed in the third from corner.

Josh Draycott did give City hope as he bundled the ball home from close range to make it 3-2.

Tom Kilifin then could and maybe should have snatched a point as he crashed a shot against the bar from eight yards.

But it wasn’t to be and things went from bad to worse on Bank Holiday Monday as the Blues crashed 3-1 at home to Clitheroe. It was a day to remember in one respect as former England international and City assistant boss Trevor Sinclair made his debut from the bench at the age of 41.

It was light relief for a City crowd who saw their side turn in a disappointing display despite opening the scoring.

The hosts were ahead inside 10 minutes when Aaron Taylor converted Tom Woods’ cross.

City looked the more likely to get the second but were pegged back from the penalty spot when Danny Wilkins was brought down by substitute Connor Crossley in the area before stepping up to convert the kick himself.

Danny Morton then made it two as Clitheroe ghosted down the City left and things only got worse after the break.

Ryan Winder brought down Morton in the area four minutes into the second half with Wilkins converting his second spot kick.

Sinclair came off the bench to flick a header off the bar and Kilifin headed over from close range but City never looked like clawing things back on a disappointing afternoon.
