MORECAMBE players have made a generous gesture by clubbing together to fund a free coach for supporters to make the trip to the game against Barnet this month.
The management, medical staff and players have agreed to sponsor one of several free coaches offering to take Shrimps’ fans to Underhill on Saturday, March 19 with the board of directors at the Globe Arena offering to fund more.
Shrimps’ skipper Barry Roche said the players wanted to repay supporters for their backing in what has been a difficult season.
He said: “It is expensive to follow a football team and the players fully realise that.
“The board said they wanted to repay the fans for their support this year and we wanted to do our bit as well.
“The game at Barnet could be a really important one and to get a good crowd behind us on that day would be great.
“The fans were brilliant at Chesterfield and the 150 or so that went managed to out-sing the 6,000 Chesterfield crowd from beginning to end.”
