Morecambe have confirmed that next Tuesday’s scheduled home friendly against Bolton Wanderers has been called off.
The Shrimps had been due to meet Wanderers at the Globe Arena but the pitch, which has undergone major work over the summer, is not ready to stage a game yet.
A club statement said: “Over the past two weeks, the contractor has been back to site and further works have been carried out.
“Our groundstaff are working extremely hard to ensure that the playing surface will be ready for the commencement of the forthcoming season.”
The two sides will, instead, meet behind closed doors at Wanderers’ training ground.
It was Morecambe’s second pre-season game to be called off this week following the postponement of Saturday’s scheduled match at Lancaster City.
Instead, Jim Bentley’s Shrimps squad will travel to Alfreton Town on Friday (7.45pm).
