Ryan Edwards and Kevin Ellison were the main winners as Morecambe announced their prize performers for the 2016/17 League Two campaign.

The club’s annual awards night took place on Saturday, hours after the Shrimps ended their home season with a 1-1 draw against Wycombe Wanderers.

Edwards and Ellison both took home a hat-trick of honours with the defender winning the Player of the Year prizes decided by the players, the supporters and the Sardines group.

The 23-year-old has established himself as one of the first names on Jim Bentley’s teamsheet this season, making 49 appearances at the heart of the Shrimps’ defence so far this season.

Ellison was named the Community Sports Player of the Year and Junior Reds Player of the Year, as well as winning the Goal of the Season award for his strike in their defeat at Exeter City seven days earlier.

Michael Rose was named as the Visitor’s Player of the Year, while further awards went to Luke Jordan, Tyler Brownsword, Ben Hedley and Dave Freear.
