Pre-season number 17 is nearly over and I for one cannot wait for the season to start.

We have had long days training and warm-up games but nothing compares to Football League action.

Last season as a whole was obviously a bit of a disappointment but there is definitely cause for optimism ahead of the new campaign.

The club did brilliantly doing good business player-wise over the summer bringing in some excellent new signings.

Tying up the deals for our loanees Jamie Devitt, Shaun Beeley and Ryan Edwards so early into the summer break was the lift everyone at the club needed.

They were vital in us staying in the Football League and we were all delighted to see them return to the Globe.

Then coming in on our first day to see Alan Goodall and Laurence Wilson report for training was another superb piece of work by those involved at the club.

We all know what Lozza can do and add the experience and calming influence of Goody to the mix and we certainly have the makings of a very good squad with plenty of strength in depth.

More recently Paul Mullin announced his arrival on the scene in explosive fashion. There is competition for places all over the pitch and that can only help us in our quest to be successful.

From a personal point of view pre-season was a bit disappointing with me missing quite a few games and a couple of weeks training but I’m fit now and raring to go.

So many clubs have strengthened squads well this summer so it is going to be one of the most competitive seasons in a long time.

But we are ready. We have put the hours in on the training pitch and done the right work to prepare us. We have a great group of lads who are all pulling in the same direction and we are looking forward to showing that.
