Shaun Miller: I want to rediscover my best form with Morecambe

The 27-year-old scored 19 goals in the 2010-2011 season for the Alex before sealing a move to Sheffield United in the summer of 2012.

It has been tough for Miller since then however after picking up a cruciate knee ligament injury with the Blades.

Miller, who was released by Coventry in the summer, said: “I’d never say it’s going to be easy but I’ll certainly be working hard to recreate that form.

“It’s been a very stop-start last couple of seasons and I haven’t really been able to get going at all.

“I’m really looking forward to a new chapter here.

“Hopefully I can get a few games under my belt and really get a run going because I know I’ve got the ability to do that.

“I’m just looking for the game time and to get the consistency.

“Looking back when I do have a good run of games I do find the back of the net.”

Miller, who signed a one-year deal after featuring in friendlies against Blackpool and a Liverpool XI, also spent time on trial at Stevenage this summer in his bid to find a new club and admits that it wasn’t an easy few months with his future up in the air.

He said: “It’s very stressful.

“It’s been a long old summer since the last game of last season.

“You don’t know where you’re going to be but I’m just delighted to be able to focus on the start of the season.

“Towards the back end of last week I knew of a bit of interest and I was delighted to get in the building and play a couple of friendlies.

“I managed to finalise it on Wednesday and I was delighted to finally get something over the line and get sorted here.”

Miller, who likes to play on the shoulder of the last defender, may have only been with The Shrimps a matter of days but has enjoyed what time he has had around the squad thus far.

He said: “I’ve settled in really quickly.

“I know a few of the lads and it’s very tight-knit group.

“I just want to crack on now.”

The former Crewe man, who spent time on loan with Crawley and York City last season, has been impressed with what he’s seen and is looking forward to a successful season at the Globe Arena.

He said: “It looks really good.

“They had a decent campaign last year and it just tailed off towards the end. 
”It’s a very small group but there is some great quality within the group.

“We should be looking for a positive season.”
