MORECAMBE boss Sammy McIlroy admitted he almost quit the Shrimps after defeat at this weekend’s opponents Torquay United earlier in the season.
McIlroy was left so frustrated and annoyed after the Shrimps’ 3-1 defeat at Plainmoor at the end of October that he thought long and hard about resigning after six defeats in 13 games.
Said McIlroy: “We started the game really well and were well on top when a few decisions went against us and we had a man sent off.
“Everything seemed to go against us and after we ended the game with nine men I was at a real low.
“I seriously thought about calling it a day but I chatted with my family and the chairman over the weekend and they showed their support which meant a lot”.
