ONLY three games in the Baines Bagguley North Lancashire and District Football League managed to beat the frost making it just 11 games played in the last three weeks with a total of 263 games cancelled so far.
At this stage last season there had been 247 games cancelled.
In the Fisher/Howson Remembrance Cup second round, Division One side Marsh United Reserves came within 60 seconds of a shock exit when they played Caton United Reserves from Division Three.
Both sides fielded much weakened teams due to some players being cup-tied after playing in the Senior Challenge Cup.
Caton were the most enterprising of the teams on a pitch which was just about playable and took the game to the Marsh side.
The game was far closer than anyone could have thought, but it was Caton who went into a 2-1 lead with a brilliant goal scored by Jeremy Richards and Jonathon Pink, in reply Liam Beaton scored for Marsh.
