Former Fleetwood boss has been charged with getting Shrewsbury back into League 1 at the first time of asking after arriving at the club at May. Is going about things the right way, boasting one of the league’s most impressive squads.

Key Man

James Collins

Striker in his second spell at the club has 10 goals in all competitions this season. Originally left the club in 2012 for Swindon but after a disappointing spell in the Scottish Premier League with Hibernian returned in the summer, picking up where he left off.

Third in the table Shrews have lost just one of their last nine in League 2, a 3-2 defeat at Exeter on November 22. Are formidable at New Meadow with nine wins and a draw in 10 games. Drew 0-0 at Cambridge last time out on Saturday.

It’s all square in 12 past league games between the sides with four Shrimps wins, four draws and four Shrews wins. If you count cup competitions, three wins for Mellon’s side mean they have the upper hand overall. The teams last met in the 2011-2012 season with the Shrews doing the double with a 2-0 win on home soil and a 1-0 win at the Globe Arena thanks to Collins’ winner.

Possible line-up
