Morecambe travel to League 2’s form side Northampton on Saturday looking to extend their unbeaten run.

Former Halifax boss surprised many by leaving high-flying Oxford for the lowly Cobblers in January. After a final-day escape last season more was expected this time around and after a slow start Wilder appears to be turning things around. Named League 2 manager of the month for December

The 32-year-old is the top scorer in League 2 with 15 goals. Former Chesterfield, Port Vale and Barnsley front man arrived in the summer for a second spell at Sixfields having previously played for the club between 2003 and 2005. Wide men Lawson D’Ath, who has eight goals in 17 starts, and Ricky Holmes, a recent arrival from Portsmouth, are also forming a potent partnership on the flanks.


Have won their last four games in a remarkable turnaround that sees The Cobblers a place and a point behind the Shrimps in 12th. Boss Wilder shipped out a host of players at the start of the January transfer window and clearout seems to have done the trick at Sixfields. Won 5-1 at Accrington last time out despite playing more than 50 minutes with 10 men.


The Shrimps have won just one of 11 meetings between the sides with six Northampton wins and four draws. The Cobblers were 1-0 winners at the Globe Arena in September.
