Morecambe host Manchester United foes Cambridge United on Saturday hoping to complete the double over The U’s.

Experienced former Scunthorpe, Walsall and Luton boss joined the club in 2012, guiding them back to the Football League last season. After end of his side’s FA Cup exploits will look to steer them into the top-half of the League 2 table.

Former Newcastle United youngster has six goals to his name so far this season. Tricky wide man was man of the match in both of Cambridge’s visits to Wembley last season, the FA Trophy and Conference play-off finals. Formerly of Gateshead having also spent time on loan at Hartlepool and Gateshead.


Cambridge were 16th in League 2 at the time of going to press, seven points clear of the Football League trap door. Lost 6-2 at home to Portsmouth on Saturday before a 0-0 draw against AFC Wimbledon on Tuesday night.


Morecambe have had the better of the six meetings between the sides in league and cup with three wins, two draws and a defeat. The Shrimps won the first game between the sides this season 2-1 at the end of August thanks to two goals from Paul Mullin.
