Morecambe Ladies breezed into the first round proper of the Women’s FA Cup with after a convincing win at AFC Penrith on Sunday.

Morecambe dominated the first half with a lovely lob over the Penrith keeper by Laura Ivinson giving them the lead just one minute in.

They continued to control proceedings with some good passing moves but wasted several chances to extend their lead.

Megan Doherty finally found the back of the net to open up her tally and make the score 2-0 at half-time.

Doherty then scored within minutes of the restart and added another shortly after for her hat-trick to well and truly settle any nerves the visitors might have had.

Morecambe then conceded two sloppy goals, to give the home side hope but Doherty added a further two goals
to take her total to five for the day and seal the 6-2 victory.

The ladies have been drawn away to Chorley in the first round proper.

This weekend they travel to Blackpool Wren Rovers in the quarter-finals of the Lancashire Cup.
