After a quite even first half against Mayfield United, Caton dominated the second period, but Mayfield’s defence was much too strong and deservedly held on for a point after Daniel Martin had scored for Mayfield, while Joe Bouskill scored for Caton.

Carnforth Rangers stayed top and increased their lead after overcoming a stubborn Marsh United side on a pitch that deteriorated from the first whistle to the last, and proved to be a leveller for both teams.

Although Carnforth were unable to play their usual free-flowing football, they still ran out 4-1 winners thanks to goals from Cameron Holmes, Alec Benson, Kyle Gill and Damien Murphy. Marsh’s goal was scored by veteran Mark Goulding.

Boys’ Club caused an upset in Division One after beating league leaders Cartmel and District Reserves.

The Cartmel side could not break down a solid Boys’ Club defence that worked hard for each other.

Cartmel had most of the possession and created a lot more chances than Boys’ Club, but the goal that won the game was top drawer with Jack Braithwaite scoring a belter.

This defeat opens the door for Westgate Wanderers, who are in second place and are just one point behind Cartmel with a game in hand.
