The confident College side put up a great display of attacking play and had also to defend well as the Southport team threatened at one time to runaway with the game.

However, credit to the College side as they kept their composure and forced the game into penalties after Josh Dixon and a great Carl Manning goal scored after a Southport defender in trying to clear only helped the ball into net to make it 3-3 after the 90 minutes.

This brought the penalty shoot-out which the College team won, scoring with all five of their spot kicks.

In the Eric Wilson Senior Challenge Cup first round, the all Division One tie between AFC Moorlands and Millhead went to extra time before it was settled.

The game was end to end with Ingleton unlucky to be 1-0 down at half-time.
