TWO new players have signed for Morecambe FC.
New Shrimps boss Jim Bentley has added former Scotland B international midfielder Gary McDonald and ex-Oldham striker Lewis Alessandra to his squad taking his pre-season captures to four.
McDonald, 29, started his career at Kilmarnock and made more than 100 appearances before moving to Oldham in July 2006. After almost 80 appearances for the Latics he moved to Aberdeen, playing 52 games in the Scottish Premier League before moving to Hamilton last summer.
Alessandra, 22, is a graduate of Oldham Athletic’s youth system, who made more than 60 first team appearances, scoring eight goals including a hat-trick against Scunthorpe in 2008. He can play out wide or up front.
Bentley said: “Both players are fantastic additions to the squad and I am excited about working with both of them.
“I met both of them earlier this week and they were great lads who were really impressed by the set up we had here. Both have played at League 1 level and above and have a lot of experience which will be a great benefit to us.”
