Both players had to be substituted in the 1-1 draw with Exeter on Tuesday night, Beeley rolling an ankle while Barkhuizen needed oxygen after picking up a rib injury in clash with Barry Roche.

The injuries leave Bentley without four of his main men as the season enters a key period with captain Peter Murphy out for the season with a cruciate knee ligament injury and Aaron McGowan still battling a hamstring problem.

Bentley said: “Tom’s got a rib injury, it’s not nice to see any of your players taken off on a stretcher but especially when they need oxygen.

“All day yesterday (Wednesday) he was struggling and couldn’t move around and couldn’t get out of bed.
“The thing with ribs is that you can’t do anything about them it’s just a time thing.

“It’s what the lad’s pain threshold is like. It was little bit easier for him this morning but again it depends.

“A couple of days, two weeks, who knows? We’ll just have to monitor that situation but it’s a big loss because Tom is a big player for us.

“As for Shaun Beeley he went up and got a little tap on his leg and he’s gone over on his ankle as he landed.

“He’ll be a few weeks as well I should imagine.

“It’s the way it’s going at the moment because the other right back who could come straight in (Aaron McGowan) has a hamstring injury.

“We’re struggling in that area but in the past we’ve had injuries and our backs our against the wall and we come out fighting.”

Bentley is closing in on the signing of a full back to help fill the void and with goalkeeper Kieran O’Hara already having returned on loan from Manchester United Bentley continues to look for reinforcements with limited resources.

He said: “We’ll have to keep juggling the pack and keep identifying players we want to bring in that fit what we’ve got financially.

“There are players out there but when you enquire about them we’re hitting a few stumbling blocks due to finances.

“It’s a difficult time for us because we haven’t had a home game on a Saturday for nearly three months. It’s been a bit of nightmare so it’s hard to do business.

“We won’t use it as a negative we’ll just look at the options we can bring in.”

Bentley has ruled out recalling youngsters Charlie Bailey and Nathan Bondswell from their loans at Kendal, one option to help bolster the ranks at the Globe Arena.

The Shrimps boss said: “We’ve got 16 fit including the keepers.

“We’ve got Charlie Bailey and Nathan Bondswell out on loan at Kendal but for their development they’d be better playing 90 minutes rather than sitting on our bench at this stage.

“We’ve got players who would come on before them so if we need to go with six subs on Saturday we’ll go with six subs.

“Next week’s a free week until the Northampton game so fingers crossed we don’t pick up any injuries on Saturday and hopefully we’ll see some of the players progress because then we’ve got a busy period which will be really testing.”
