After a run of five defeats before the turn of the year a transfer window shake-up has seen Chris Wilder’s side win their last four games.

Jim Bentley however is hoping his side can maintain their own unbeaten start to 2015 against League 2’s form side.

He said: “I think they lost something like five on the spin and then offloaded a few players and brought two or three in.

“They picked a side that drew (against Southend at the start of January) and then they’ve won four on the spin.

“It’s been the same side and it’s picked itself.

“We know they’re a good side with good players and have got the league’s top scorer (Marc Richards).

“It’ll be a tough match for us but we’re hoping to make sure it’s a tough one for them too.

“At the start of the season people we’re tipping them to be at the top end and us to be at the bottom end and there’s quite a big difference between the clubs.

“But we know on our day we’re capable of beating anyone. I know Chris Wilder well and I know he won’t be taking us lightly.”

The game presents perhaps the sternest test of Morecambe’s solid start to 2015, the Shrimps having drawn all five of their games in the new year.

Bentley said: “It will be a big test.

“We’re not conceding many goals at the moment and we’re quite solid.

“I think over the last six games we’ve conceded something like 13 shots on target which is a good stat at any level.

“But we go into any game trying to win it and I think the last three games we’ve drawn we could have easily won, especially against Plymouth and Cheltenham.

“We haven’t had that little bit of luck and haven’t scored the goals we’ve wanted to have scored.

“We’re creating chances which is the main thing, we’re trying to be postive.”

On the injury front, Stewart Drummond’s knee problem is likely to keep him out for another one or two weeks.

Andy Wright has started running after his hernia operation.
