Morecambe midfielder Alex Kenyon has signed a new two-year contract at the Globe Arena.
The 21-year-old has impressed during his first season in the Football League after arriving from Stockport County in the summer.
The former Lancaster City captain’s deal was due to expire in the summer but he has penned an extension until the end of the 2015-16 season.
He said: “I’m really pleased to have signed up for two years.
“I’ve really enjoyed my first season in the Football League and feel that I am learning all the time.
“I’ve played more this year than I thought I would and I’ve really enjoyed it.
“It’s a great club with a great set of lads and when the manager offered me a deal there was never any doubt.”
Shrimps boss Jim Bentley said: “This is a great signing for the club.
“Alex is still only young but he is getting better all the time and is a player who I think has a really good future in the game.
“He works hard and is popular in the dressing room and I look forward to seeing him develop even further in the next couple of seasons.”
