The Shrimps had looked set to take three points but a goal by Luke Norris 10 minutes from time earned the home side a share of the spoils.

Having fallen behind early in the first half, Morecambe had got on terms through Toumani Diagouraga before Cole Stockton put them in front.

Adams said: “Overall it was a good point away from home.

“We know Stevenage have picked up a lot of draws this season and it is a difficult place to go to.

“We started the game very well and created a number of good early opportunities.

“Against the run of play Stevenage got a goal that was deflected into our own net.

“Then we upped the tempo again and got a good goal from Toumani Diagouraga after a great cross from Stephen Hendrie, and then we got a good second goal when John O’Sullivan played in Cole Stockton, who provided a really good finish to put us ahead.

“We were in total control of the game at that time but the second half was a different story.

“Stevenage were the better team in the second half and caused us trouble.

“We didn’t start the second half well and they had a couple of chances.

“We dealt well with their pressure for large spells but eventually they got their equaliser when we could have defended the situation a lot better.”
