The Shrimps salvaged a point through Jordan Slew’s first goal for the club, cancelling out Aramide Oteh’s first-half penalty for the visitors.
It was a game where Morecambe enjoyed the more meaningful possession but struggled to break down their visitors, who defended manfully throughout.

“You see by the number of shots we had at goal, the amount of possession we had in the game.
“Stevenage got a lifeline because we gave away a penalty, then they decide to take their time as they are allowed to do by the officials and we didn’t get into any flow.
“Over the 90 minutes, there’s no doubt we deserved more than the point we got today.”

Kelvin Mellor was the man responsible, tripping Oteh when he was already under pressure from Sam Lavelle.
Adams said: “He didn’t have to make the challenge, Sam Lavelle and him were in close proximity to the player.
“He was going nowhere and didn’t have to dive in. Was it a penalty? Was it not? The referee has given it and it’s given Stevenage something to hold onto.”

Fourteen minutes after coming off the bench for his home league debut, teenager Freddie Price crossed and Slew headed home.
“It’s always important to get your first goal,” Adams said of the front man.
“He’s playing in a role that helps the team, he’s strong and quick and it’s great for him to get the goal today.”
