The Shrimps slipped out of the League Two play-off places into eighth with defeat at Bradford City in midweek.

Their fourth consecutive away game now sees them travel to a Barrow side sitting second-bottom of the table.

The two teams met at the start of December when Carlos Mendes Gomes’ early goal gave Morecambe victory at the Mazuma Stadium.

Since then, however, Barrow have changed bosses with Michael Jolley replacing David Dunn, while they brought in nine players during the January transfer window.

That injection of new blood has proved somewhat contentious after the revelation the club had put out-of-favour players on furlough.

Those arrivals on and off the pitch mean Adams is not taking Barrow’s lowly position for granted.

“They are a good side and they are in a false position at this moment in time,” he said.

“The statistics will tell you that because they create a lot of good chances and we’re aware of the threat they will pose.

“We won the game against them at home but it’s a difficult place to go to, the pitch isn’t in a great condition – but we’re looking forward to it.”

The change in the dugout has also led to a difference in approach from the initial meeting, with Adams expecting an alternative formation to the three at the back used in December.

He said: “They have gone to four at the back and have gone to more of a 4-4-2 system in recent times.

“That’s changed with a new manager coming in and the personnel having changed as well.

“It will be interesting to see what kind of game it will be on Saturday.”
