Morecambe management duo Bentley and McKenna sign new long-term contracts

Morecambe FC boss Jim Bentley and his assistant Ken McKenna have agreed new three-year deals with the club.

Bentley, the fifth longest serving boss in the Football League, has put pen to paper on a deal until the end of the 2017/18 season.

He said: “I love this club and have had an unbelievable time during my stay here.

“I think Ken and I have improved the club during our time as a management team and hopefully the future is positive and successful.

“We have a great desire to work hard and be successful and we both want the best for the club and for the people of Morecambe.

“I have always had a great relationship chairman, board of directors, staff and fans and I would like to thank everyone for their continued support.

“Together we can all look forward with ambition and optimism.’’

McKenna added: “We have come a long way in the last four years as a management team.

“All aspects of the club have progressed nicely and we have a very positive working environment.

“Our aim now is to progress further and keep on improving in our work on and off the field.’’

Shrimps general manager Mark Dixon said: “We have had internal discussions throughout the summer but with the work going into pre season and such a busy schedule throughout August this week has been the first opportunity we have had to discuss the deal.

“All of our signings this summer have been with half an eye on the future and with Jim and Kenny at the helm for the next three seasons we are looking forward to progression both on and off the field of play.’’
