JIM Bentley’s second signing of the summer looks set to be Macclesfield Town midfielder Izak Reid.
The Visitor reported on Wednesday that an unnamed wide man had verbally agreed to join the Shrimps.
And Macclesfield have now confirmed that they have received a second offer for the winger from the Shrimps after the first one was rejected.
Reid is out of contract but as he is under 24 Macclesfield will be due compensation.
If the two clubs fail to agree a fee then the transfer will go to a tribunal.
Silkmen chairman Mike Rance told the Macclesfield website: “Izak has a two-year deal on the table from Macc and he’s very much a part of Gary’s (Simpson, Macclesfield manager) plans.
“We recognise however that he’s out of contract at the end of June and we fully understand that he has options.”
Speaking about Reid in this week’s Visitor, Bentley said: “One of my first objectives was to find players who would bring us width and pace and hopefully I will have done that by the weekend.
“I have spoken to a player who has excited me whenever I have seen him play and I am sure he will be another excellent addition to the squad as he can play in a couple of roles.”
Reid is expected to travel to Morecambe to put pen to paper on a contract on Saturday.
He will be the second wide man to join the club this summer following the arrival of Kevin Ellison from Rotherham a fortnight ago.
