A Morecambe legend is heading to Wembley with Bradford City.
Garry Thompson was part of the Bantams side that shocked Aston Villa on Tuesday night to become the first fourth tier side to reach a major domestic cup final in 51 years.
Phil Parkinson’s side lost 2-1 on the night but went through 4-3 on aggregate to set up an historic final date with either Swansea or Chelsea.
Thompson, who played nearly 300 games in nine years with The Shrimps, had scored against Arsenal in the quarter-finals ealier in the famous cup run.
And the 32-year-old from Kendal has fond memories of Wembley having scored Morecambe’s first goal in their Conference Play-Off triumph over Exeter in 2007.
